Spiritual Life

Building a Foundation of Faith that Will Last a Lifetime

Our Catholic school thrives because of the faith of our children, families, and teachers.

Students study Religion and the Catholic faith as part of the ICS curriculum, however the spiritual life of students extends well beyond classroom instruction and is woven into all aspects of ICS.

ICS students are taught to lead with the basic human values such as honesty, integrity, sincere application of one’s efforts, the ability to relate well with others, and a genuine concern for the people around us. An important part of the education of the students who attend Immaculate Conception School and their families is to understand that as a Catholic community we are responsible for providing charitable outreach to those in need.

Sacrament Preparation
ICS students prepare for the blessed sacraments through the parish religious education program. Students may receive First Reconciliation and First Eucharist in the 2nd grade, and Confirmation in the 9th grade

Youth Ministry
The Immaculate Conception Church EDGE program is open to all 6th through 8th graders and meets twice monthly at the Sts. Francis and Clare House here on campus. Questions? Contact Mr. Drew Meisel, Immaculate Conception Youth Minister, at dmeisel@theimmaculate.org.

Mass

As a school community, students participate in Mass throughout the school year, including Holy Days of Obligation. Students also participate in Reconciliation during Advent and Lent, attend Stations of the Cross, celebrate special liturgical events and holy days with prayer services, and participate in the Living Rosary each year.

Prayer Life

At Immaculate Conception School, prayer is an integral part of the school day. Students begin and end the day with prayer, thank the Lord for their blessings at lunchtime, and ask God to guide them in their learning in each of their classes. Students learn to appreciate both rote and spontaneous prayer as they grow in their personal relationship with God and seek to discern His will in their lives.

Campus Ministry and Outreach

The ICS Middle School S.T.R.I.V.E.Campus Ministry Program is one of our most active and enthusiastic student organizations. More than one-half of the middle school student population participates in Campus Ministry Club, which is led by our Middle School Campus Minister and Religion teacher, Mrs. Jenny Scott, and a panel of student officers. Students focus on three primary goals – Service, Fellowship and Ministry. Students lead and assist in the planning and implementation of school liturgies for all grades. They also promote and execute campus-wide community service projects. Students also develop lasting relationships during lunch and recess meetings. Successful projects have included drives to local food banks, drawstring bags for students in Africa, bookbags for the Ronald McDonald House and supplies for pregnancy centers, as well as making rosaries for Ukranian refugees. All initiatives are undertaken to lead the entire ICS community in our efforts to assist those most in need in giving greater glory to God.

We are excited to expand the Campus Ministry Program to our 4th and 5th grades for the 2023-2024 school year!
