Spiritual Life

Building a Foundation of Faith that Will Last a Lifetime

The spiritual life of the students that attend Immaculate Conception School (ICS) is, and always will be, a significant priority. Our Catholic school thrives because of the faith of our children, families, and teachers. Students study Religion and the Catholic faith as part of the ICS curriculum, however the spiritual life of students extends well beyond classroom instruction and is woven into all aspects of ICS.

Outreach

An important part of the education of the students who attend Immaculate Conception School and their families is to understand that as a Catholic community we are responsible for providing charitable outreach to those in need. Our students are taught to lead with the basic human values such as honesty, integrity, sincere application of one’s efforts, the ability to relate well with others, and a genuine concern for the people around us. Throughout the school year, the students use their time and talents to contribute to various causes to aid the needy.

The Holy Sacraments

ICS students prepare for the blessed sacraments outside of school, as part of their religious education.

  • Second Grade – First Reconciliation
  • Second Grade – First Holy Communion
  • Ninth Grade – Confirmation

Mass

As a school community, students attend Mass throughout the school year, including all Holy Days of Obligation. All are welcome to attend. Students also participate in Reconciliation during Advent and Lent, celebrate special events with prayer services, and participate in the Living Rosary.

Outreach

An important part of the education of the students who attend Immaculate Conception School and their families is to understand that as a Catholic community we are responsible for providing charitable outreach to those in need, including our sister parish in Baltimore City, St. Thomas Aquinas. Throughout the school year the students use their time and talents to contribute to various causes to aid the needy.

The focus of the student council, youth groups, staff, and faculty and the Home School Association has always been service to aid the members of our community who are in need of a helping hand. Immaculate Conception School assists the parish Giving Tree Project during Advent; food drives for the Assistance Center of Towson Churches; choses a service-based Lenten project; and performs service projects as part of their sacramental preparation.

Immaculate Conception School is a community that prides itself in reaching out with kindness and compassion to our community. The students, staff and faculty of Immaculate Conception School understand their good fortune and are fully prepared to give back to the community.
