About Immaculate Conception School

Educating Young Learners Since 1887

Educating the whole child in the context of the Catholic faith.

Immaculate Conception School (ICS) is a Catholic Parish school of the Archdiocese of Baltimore. Located in Towson, Maryland, ICS educates children in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 8. One of our greatest strengths is our dedication to continually improve our curriculum in accordance with student needs, factoring in the opportunities and challenges presented by technology and life in the 21st century.

Success at ICS is demonstrated on numerous levels:

Focusing our efforts is our core belief that, as Catholic educators, we are called to fulfill the mission of leading our students from childhood through adolescence.

We offer a strong academic education, grounded in personal responsibility, within a faith-based environment, recognizing above all else that we are all children of God.

We lead children toward spiritual, emotional, moral, intellectual, physical, and social development. We encourage our students to be critical thinkers, problem solvers and truth seekers.

We implement Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), a proactive and interactive approach to establish a social culture in a school that supports social, emotional, and academic success.  At ICS we are Respectful, Responsible, and Kind, because CHRIST matters!

We use data-based decision making to align curriculum and supports for students and staff, all aimed at supporting a safe and effective school environment.

Meet Our Principal

Mrs. Heather H. Cucuzzella

Letter from Our Principal

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Immaculate Conception School!  I am grateful for your interest in our school and parish community.  I encourage you to explore our website to see evidence of God’s good works right here in the heart of Towson.

Since 1887, our mission has remained steadfastly focused on student faith formation, academic excellence, and community involvement.  Our team of dedicated Catholic educators values each student and actively works to cultivate their talents and a life-long love of learning.  From preschool to 8th grade, our students benefit from a well-rounded curriculum and diverse extracurricular opportunities.

The ICS motto, “Be respectful, be responsible, and be kind because Christ matters” exemplifies the principles we hold in highest esteem and serves as the benchmark for our school.

I invite you to continue to learn about all the ways Immaculate Conception School serves families in our community for children’s spiritual and academic growth.

Respectfully,

Heather H. Cucuzzella

Principal

About Heather H. Cucuzzella

Mrs. Cucuzzella received her Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Villanova University.  After several years in the private sector, she went back to school earning a teaching degree from the University of Arizona.  She taught math in public high schools in both Arizona and Virginia, before joining the ICS team in 2010 as a math and social studies teacher.  During her tenure, she also served as math and middle school coordinator.  Again, she returned to school earning a Masters in Supervision and Leadership from Notre Dame University of Maryland in 2017 before serving as assistant principal for two years.  In 2019, she accepted the position of principal and this will be her 5th year leading Immaculate Conception School.

“Prior to sending our daughter to ICS, it was difficult to verbalize to others why we decided to make the commitment to Catholic education – it just felt right and it’s how my husband and I were raised. However, within the first month we were able to clearly state that we valued ICS for the community, as well as the faith-based education that is intertwined in every aspect of the school. We are thankful for ICS family and for the character that our daughter is developing as an ICS student.”
