Weekly Bible Study
Our weekly Bible study sessions are held every Wednesday at 7 PM in the Nelligan room, located in the Parish Office building. We hope that you will take a break from your busy work week and join us for a time of discussion, prayer, and spiritual growth!
Our current study series is Bishop Robert Barron’s, “Seven Deadly Sins, Seven Lively Virtues”. Starting in December (the season of Advent), we will begin studying the Bible Nativity readings, in preparation for Christmas.
Please note: We will not be holding Bible study on Wednesday, November 27th, due to the Thanksgiving holiday. We also will not be holding Bible study on Wednesday, December 25th, and Wednesday, January 1st, due to Christmas and New Year’s Day.
Discipleship’s Worship Nights are held regularly on the second Saturday of every month. Join us on Saturday, December 14th, at 7:00 PM in the main church! We will have a guest speaker, followed by Eucharistic Adoration with praise and worship music, and the opportunity to receive the sacrament of Reconciliation, for those who are interested. Afterwards, we will be heading to Hampden to see the 34th Street Christmas lights, and then to Tony’s house nearby for hot chocolate and gingerbread house decorating. Please RSVP to Tony at firstname.lastname@example.org, or on our Facebook event page, by Wednesday, December 11th. We look forward to seeing you there!
We invite you to join us and other young people in serving our parish and becoming more involved in the Mass by offering Holy Communion, reading the Word of God, or being the face of Christ to others through Immaculate’s Encounter Ministry!
Eucharistic Minister/Lector: If you are interested in being trained, please contact Fr. Joe Barr for more details. You can request to serve every 3rd Sunday of the month during the 5:30 PM Praise Mass with other young adults, and/or choose to be randomly assigned to various masses.
Encounter Ministry: The Encounter Ministry includes the tasks of greeting, handing out song sheets, seating people, doing the collection, handing out bulletins, etc. The goal is to use these “tasks” as opportunities to be Christ to the congregation! You are not required to sign up in advance to participate but can volunteer whenever you are able. Please contact Lauren McKeegan if you would like to be trained.
- Sunday, December 15th – Praise Mass – Join Discipleship for Mass at 5:30 PM in the main church! We typically sit towards the front to the right. If you have been trained at Immaculate Conception as a Eucharistic Minister or lector, we encourage you to sign-up for this Mass in advance or ask if any help is needed when you arrive. Also, if you’ve been trained as an Encounter Minister, please check in when you arrive to see if you can assist in any way. Please RSVP on our Facebook event page, so we know to look for you!
Social and Service Events
From attending community events such as Orioles games and Relay for Life to serving at places like Our Daily Bread and local pregnancy centers, Discipleship’s social and service events offer a variety of ways to get involved and serve others.
- Saturday, December 21st – Save the Date for Discipleship’s Annual Christmas Party! Celebrate Christ’s birth at Discipleship’s annual Christmas Party! We will start the night by attending 5 PM Mass together. After Mass, we will be meeting in the parish hall for a holiday dinner (potluck style), Christmas caroling, a White Elephant gift exchange, and more! RSVP’s are due on our Facebook event page, or by email at email@example.com, by Wednesday, December 18th. If you would like to participate in the White Elephant gift exchange, please let us know when you RSVP (gift amount is $10). Also, please let us know whatever food or drinks you plan to bring. Thank you and we can’t wait to see you there!
Are you ready for Adoration Olympics?!?
Come spend time with Christ in Eucharistic Adoration! Discipleship has two teams that take turns sending members to cover the Sunday 2-3 PM Holy Hour at Immaculate’s perpetual Adoration Chapel. If you are interested in joining a team, please see our Facebook page for more details (and contact Emily Wertlieb).
