TWENTY EIGHTH SUNDAY IN YEAR A

When a priest is ordained, the bishop hands him a Book of the Gospels and gives the priest this command (it is clearer in Latin, Spanish, Italian, etc. that it is a grammatical command, not a subjunctive, ‘if you choose to.” “Believe what you read. Preach what you believe. Practice what you preach.”

These last three Sunday gospels were spoken by Jesus to the chief priests and elders: the Pharisees, Sadducees and Scribes. He condemns them because they have not been faithful to the people; God’s vineyard.

  1. 3 Sundays ago: The parable of the man with two sons. One said, “No I won’t work in the vineyard;” then repented and went. The other son said, “Yes sir.” But, then did not work in the vineyard. So Jesus said to them, they are the second son! ”Amen, I say to you, tax collectors and prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God before ”
  2. Last Sunday: The parable of the owner of the vineyard and the bad tenants; I told my youth, tenants won’t mean anything to you, so substitute the word tenant with ‘babysitters.’ Jesus told them they were rotten baby- sitters of Father God’s vineyard! So, “The Kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people (goyim) that will produce its ”
  3. Today: “burn their city” (He prophesied the destruction of Jerusalem 37 years after His death by the Romans) “cast them into the darkness outside where there will be wailing and grinding of ”

Mt. 21:45 And when the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they knew He was speaking about them.

Jesus raises many red flags in today’s parable. The subject is ordinary: a banquet invitation. The responses are HIGHLY UNORDINARY. If you had received an invitation from Queen Elizabeth for the wedding of Prince William, would you ignore it? Would you attack the royal messenger who delivered the invitation? Of course not! Now, does Jesus have your attention?

Let us connect the dots. The religious leaders could not see and would not see the authority behind the actions of Jesus. So, they want to undermine Him. The next two Sunday Gospels will be their tactic to trap Jesus on questions about taxes and the Law. You must come back to hear this!

I have a shock for many Catholics. Do you realize, or were you even taught, that the Catholic Church is the only Church founded by Jesus Christ? Yes, for two thousand years we accept that Judaism was founded by Father God, the First Person of the Holy Trinity. Joseph, Mary and Jesus were Jewish. The 12 Apostles were Jewish: and so on. But, Jesus Christ, the Second Person of the Holy Trinity founded the Catholic faith. All other religions are man-made. Buddha never claimed to be sinless or claimed to be god. Muhammed never claimed to be sinless or claimed to be god. Luther, Henry VIII, never claimed to be sinless or god.

Therefore, when Jesus returns with the chastisement in His hand, it will NOT be for the chief priests and elders of the vineyard like He did two thousand years ago. It will NOT be for the men and women who lead people to an alternative God or to an alternative Jesus. It will be for His priests and bishops, the tenants/the babysitters of Jesus’ Bride, the Church. How does this apply to today, you ask?

Bishops in California, Arizona, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Ohio, etc., talk this way. I cite one from El Paso, Texas bishop, Mark Seitz. Unfortunately, he distorts and confuses. He says in an essay for “America Magazine” that those fighting for lives of the unborn are single-issue voters and have damaged the Church. Specifically, he says pro-lifers have “harmed the credibility of the commitment of Christians to the common good and compromised the integrity of our gospel witness.”

No, dear bishop — lying, cheating, thieving, raping, cover-up, money- hungry bishops and priests have compromised the integrity of the Church.

Bishop Seitz cites examples of how the horrible plight of immigrants are somehow the moral equivalents of children being hacked to pieces in a swirl of blood every 30 seconds in America. 3,000 abortions a day.

Both situations are bad, but they are no way equal. One is chopped

up, her murderers figuring how much they can profit from selling her tiny organs.

For my youth, every time you hear the word abortion, think of this. The doctor must count the parts of the limbs removed and make sure that the nurse verifies the counting. Why? Because if he misses one limb and it remains in the womb, that decaying limb will kill the mother. “Oh, Fr. Joe, I would never tell my children that!” What did our Blessed Mother do to the three small shepherd children of Fatima in 1917? She showed them hell and begged them to pray. So, now in every rosary we use the Fatima prayer. “Oh, my Jesus, forgive us our sins. Save us from the fires of hell and lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy.” If you do not explain to your children the truth, you set them up to fall to Satan’s lies.

Our Lady of Fatima told the children that the final battle would be between atheism and the Catholic Church.

What did Jesus say to the religious leaders of His day? [Repeat the three quotes from Jesus in condemnation to the shepherds…]
