Welcome to Our New Faculty and Staff! Mrs. Donna Budny, First Grade - A College of Notre Dame of Maryland graduate, Mrs. Budny has been teaching since 1998, most recently at the former Ascension School. Her experience includes grades kindergarten through grade 3. Mrs. Budny has also worked many years at a volunteer catechist at St. Luke Catholic Church. Miss. Katie Burke, Grade 6 Homeroom, Math, and Geography - A graduate of the University of Notre Dame with a master's in education, Miss. Burke comes to us from the former Holy Redeemer Catholic School in Washington D.C. where she was an elementary teacher. She also holds a bachelor's degree in accountancy from Villanova University and has taught Saxon math. A world traveler, Miss. Burke spent a summer studying at the National University of Ireland! Mrs. Lisa Cruz, Pre-Kindergarten at the Brown House and Extended Day Director - An honors graduate from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland, Mrs. Cruz has worked as an elementary and pre-kindergarten teacher in both Catholic and public schools since 2003. She also served as a Director at the Providence Child Care and Learning Center in Towson. Mrs. Carol Dixon, Power School Administrator and Administrative Assistant - Mrs. Dixon was at Holy Family School where she worked for 16 years in both the office and extended day program. Prior to that, she worked for the Baltimore County Public Library. Mrs. Karen Gephardt, Grade 7 Homeroom, Math, and American History - Another experienced Saxon math teacher, Mrs. Gephardt taught at the former Sacred Heart of Mary School. Mrs. Gephardt brings to us more than 30 years experience as a middle school teacher with an emphasis on math. Mrs. Isabella Litchka, Teacher Mentor - A dedicated teacher, Mrs. Litchka brings more than 32 years of teaching both elementary and middle school to ICS. She is a nationally board certified teacher and is certified in administration. Mrs. Amy Montagna, Computer Teacher-Mrs. Montagna previously taught at Mother Seton School in Emmitsburg where she was a middle school teacher. Prior to this position, she taught fourth grade at St. John's Elementary School. Additionally, she worked as a technology instructor and computer lab manager at Mount Saint Mary's College. Mrs. Montagna is also fluent in Spanish. Miss. Denise O'Connor, Grade 8 Homeroom, Literature, and English-A graduate of Johns Hopkins University with a masters in reading, Miss. O'Connor has worked as a teacher and assistant principal in the Archdiocese of Baltimore since 1972. She will also serve as the new Discipline Coordinator. Miss. O'Connor also holds an advanced certificate in Youth Ministry. Mrs. Lydia Santos, Elementary Spanish - A former professor from the University of Camaguey in Cuba, Mrs. Santos comes to us from St. Clare School where she taught elementary Spanish since 2005. Senor Esteban voluntarily spent many hours this summer training Mrs. Santos on his curriculum which she will continue using here at ICS. Also new this year, Spanish will be introduced in kindergarten! Miss. Laura Vesely, Kindergarten Teacher - Miss. Vesely completed a dual major in audiology/speech pathology and deaf students as an undergraduate and is currently in her final year of a master's program in teaching at the College of Notre Dame of Maryland. Her teaching experience includes both Catholic and public school experience. Mrs. Kerry White, Kindergarten Aide - Mrs. White was with Baltimore County Public Schools where she was a kindergarten assistant teacher for four years. She also previously worked in the guidance department at the former Towson Catholic High School. Mrs. Carolyn Fuscaldo will be working part time, sharing the nursing duties with Jeannie Burns. |
