Holy Eucharist

In the celebration of the Mass, our parish family come together to grow in understanding of God's Word and to share the gift of Christ himself in Communion. The Eucharist is the most important way in which the parishioners of Immaculate Conception demonstrate and celebrate their oneness with God.

In order to prepare for First Holy Communion in the spring, children must first successfully prepare for and receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Further information regarding the preparation program for First Reconciliation can be found here.

The immediate preparation for the celebration of the Sacrament of Holy Communion is done within the family home, with ongoing support from the parish staff. Parents of second graders (and older children who have not received the Sacrament) must attend an informational meeting that will assist them in preparing their children for First Holy Communion. Providing a choice of two First Reconciliation Parent Orientation meeting: November 8 at 6 pm - 7 pm OR November 15 at 6 pm - 7 pm in the Parish Hall. Textbooks and other required materials will be provided at this meeting.

According to Archdiocesan guidelines, children preparing to celebrate their First Holy Communion must be enrolled in either a Catholic school or the parish's Family Study & Workshops Program both during the year of preparation as well as the year immediately prior to preparation.

Group celebrations for First Holy Communion will take place on on two Saturdays in the Spring of 2019. If you prefer that your child receive the sacrament for the first time during a regular Mass, arrangements can be made through Family Faith Formation.
