Outreach Ministries

Our Community Outreach Committee offers programs for the needy of our area. If you are interested in volunteering your time & talent for any of the programs listed below, please contact the Parish Office @ 410-427-4700.

ASSISTANCE CENTER OF TOWSON CHURCHES: The ACTC is an organization of over 40 churches in the Northern Baltimore County area offering emergency aid to those in our community who are in need. Our parish is an active member of this organization. Optional services include distribution of food; financial help for rent, utilities and medical supplies; clothing assistance; mentoring; back to school supplies for children; and meals for the homeless.

CHRISTOPHER PLACE: This is a program for men who may have been homeless, jobless, or addicted, but are ready to take control of their lives. Located in the new employment center in Baltimore, it offers classes and mentoring to teach the skills necessary to get and maintain a job and home. Committed members collect suits and other gently used business attire for the residents, as well as gifts at Christmas. Volunteers are desperately needed to be mentors to these men who are working on building a new life. Mentoring is a 6-month commitment.

FOOD CLOSET: The food closet is supplied by monthly donations of nonperishable food by parishioners. Members of this committee manage the storage and distribution of the collection. This food is given directly to the needy and to distribution centers in the Baltimore area which help those who are impoverished. Cash donations are used to purchase food for the needy as well.

GOOD SAMARITANS: A group of parishioners who give their time and service to fellow parishioners who need a helping hand. Committee members are happy to provide transportation to a doctor’s appointment, shopping, church, etc. Telephone companions are also available.

LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE: This committee serves to inform parishioners, through the parish bulletin and web site, about current legislation affecting social and economic conditions in light of Gospel principles.

MEALS ON WHEELS: Volunteers deliver meals to the aged and convalescent on a regular basis. Drivers and visitor volunteers are always needed.

MY SISTER’S PLACE: This is a day program in Baltimore City for homeless women and children, providing shower and laundry facilities, case management and life skills workshops. Committee members collect gifts at Christmas time, as well as, provide, prepare and serve lunch on the second Tuesday of every month. Food and cash donations and volunteers are always welcome.

OUR DAILY BREAD: Volunteers from the parish provide and serve dinner on the first Sunday of the month for the guests of Our Daily Bread Kitchen.

RESPECT FOR LIFE/PREGNANCY CENTER NORTH: These committees seek to heighten awareness of respect for life issues. Each group coordinates parish participation in the annual March for Life in Washington, D.C., and other related activities throughout the year. Several parishioners serve as volunteers at Pregnancy Center North.

ST. VINCENT DEPAUL SOCIETY: Our parish committee gives emergency assistance to the parish community, such as food, clothing, rent, as well as, financial assistance for fuel oil and electric bills.
