Young Adult Ministry

Looking to grow in your faith while socializing with other young adults? Discipleship strives to bring together all local Catholics, ages 21 to 35, to share in faith, service, and fun! We host weekly Bible studies and monthly worship, service, and social events.

Weekly Bible Study

Our weekly Bible study sessions are held every Wednesday at 7:30 PM in the Nelligan room, located in the Parish Office Building. We hope that you will take a break from your busy work week and join us for a time of discussion, prayer, and spiritual growth.

Our current topic is: “Happiness”. The series uses Fr. Spitzer's proven paradigm, "The Four Levels of Happiness", as the cornerstone, and then moves through the remaining episodes dealing with unhappiness and depression, on to evidence for our transcendent and eternal life. We will examine the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, and, finally, we will learn how to properly deal with and benefit from suffering.

Want to stay up to date with our Bible study wherever you are? Sign up for FORMED, the Catholic Faith On Demand app! Please contact for more information on how to register for free.

Worship Night

Discipleship’s Worship Nights are held regularly on the second Saturday of every month. Our Worship Nights feature a guest speaker, adoration with worship music, benediction, and opportunities for confession, all of which take place in the main church.

  • Our next Worship Night will be held on Saturday, September 23rd, at 7 PM. Afterwards, we will have time to socialize with a bonfire, S’mores and an outdoor movie! Please check out the parish calendar or join The Immaculate Conception Discipleship Group on Facebook to stay updated on our Worship Nights. For more information, please e-mail
  • Saturday, October 14th - Meditation Walk – In place of Discipleship’s monthly Worship Night for October, we will be spending a day in prayer and reflection as we hike through the beautiful fall woods of Maryland. More details to follow.

Praise Mass

Do you feel called to serve during Mass? We’d love for more young adults to partake in the Mass by offering Holy Communion, or serving as a lector, usher, or greeter. You can request to serve every 3rd Sunday of the month during the 5:30 PM Praise Mass with other young adults, and/or choose to be randomly assigned to various masses. If interested, please contact Fr. Francis at to set up a time to be trained.

  • Sunday, September 17th - Praise Mass – Our next Praise Mass will be held this Sunday at 5:30 PM in the main church. If you have been trained at Immaculate Conception as a Eucharistic Minister, lector, usher, or greeter, please volunteer for this Mass! Even if you will not be serving in one of these capacities, we encourage you to attend Mass with the rest of the Discipleship group (we typically sit towards the front immediately to the right of the middle aisle).
  • Please note: Our Praise Mass for October will be held on Sunday, October 22nd, due to the number of Sundays in the month and when our other events are taking place.

Social and Service Events

From attending community events such as Orioles games and Relay for Life to serving at places like Our Daily Bread and local pregnancy centers, Discipleship’s social and service events offer a variety of ways to get involved and serve others. To stay up to date on Discipleship’s latest events, please join The Immaculate Conception Discipleship Group on Facebook or refer to the calendar on the parish website. For more information, please contact Amy at

  • Saturday, October 28th - Celebrate Fall! Social Event – Join Discipleship for a day of apple and pumpkin picking at Baugher’s Orchards & Farm! Wagon rides to the orchard or pumpkin patch are $2.00 per person. Afterwards, we will head back to Theresa’s and my apartment for pizza, Oktoberfest beers, hot chocolate, pumpkin coffee, pumpkin roll, and other fall themed refreshments! If you would like to carpool, we will be meeting at our apartment at 1 PM. To RSVP and for the rest of the details, please contact me (Amy) at by Monday, October 23rd.
