Young Adult Ministry

Looking to grow in your faith while connecting with other young adults/professionals? Discipleship strives to bring together all local Catholics, ages 21 to 35, to share in faith, service, and fun! We host weekly Bible studies and monthly worship, service, and social events.

Join The Immaculate Conception Discipleship Group on Facebook and/or contact Amy at to be added to our e-mail list.

You can also subscribe to our Google Calendar to keep up to date with our events.

Weekly Bible Study

Our weekly Bible study sessions are held every Wednesday at 7 PM in the Nelligan room, located in the Parish Office building. We hope that you will take a break from your busy work week and join us for a time of discussion, prayer, and spiritual growth! Currently, we are studying and discussing how to pray, as well as different kinds of prayers. In the coming weeks, we will explore Lectio Divina, Marian prayers, novenas, discernment of spirits (St. Ignatius), the Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet, Evening Prayer and the Psalms, and the Mass as a prayer.

Worship Night

Discipleship’s Worship Nights are held regularly on the second Saturday of every month. Our next Worship Night will be on Saturday, June 8th, at 7 pm in the church. We will have a guest speaker, adoration with praise and worship music, and opportunities for confession, followed by food and fellowship. More details coming soon.

Praise Mass

We invite you to join us and other young people in serving our parish and becoming more involved in the Mass by offering Holy Communion, reading the Word of God, or being the face of Christ to others through Immaculate's Encounter Ministry!

  • Eucharistic Minister/Lector: If you are interested in being trained, please contact Fr. Joe Barr for more details. You can request to serve every 3rd Sunday of the month during the 5:30 PM Praise Mass with other young adults, and/or choose to be randomly assigned to various masses.
  • Encounter Ministry: The Encounter Ministry includes the tasks of greeting, handing out song sheets, seating people, doing the collection, handing out bulletins, etc. The goal is to use these “tasks” as opportunities to BE CHRIST to the congregation! You are not required to sign up in advance to participate but can volunteer whenever you are able. Please contact Lauren McKeegan if you would like to be trained.
  • Sunday, May 19th - Praise Mass – Join Discipleship for Mass at 5:30 PM in the main church! We typically sit towards the front to the right. If you have been trained at Immaculate Conception as a Eucharistic Minister or lector, we encourage you to sign-up for this Mass in advance or ask if any help is needed when you arrive. Also, if you’ve been trained as an Encounter Minister, please check in when you arrive to see if you can assist in any way. Please RSVP on our Facebook page, so we know to look for you!
  • Sunday, June 16th - Praise Mass – Join Discipleship for Mass at 5:30 PM in the main church!

Volunteer Opportunities

Transform Your Life!

Discipleship has committed to supporting Immaculate Conception’s perpetual adoration chapel, so it can continue to stay open 24-7! Volunteers can sign up as needed to ensure that a worshiper is there each Sunday from 2-3 PM. If you are able to volunteer to cover an upcoming Sunday, you can sign up for that day here, or contact Jose at We need at least one worshiper every Sunday, but two or more is even better! Thank you so much for your help!!

If you would like to help, but prefer signing up for another time as a full-time or substitute adorer, you can sign-up here. If you want to pair up with another Discipleship member, please let us know and we will put you in touch with anyone interested in the same time. The Adoration Chapel is a wonderful blessing to our community and we want to keep it open! Come spend time with Jesus, grow in friendship with Him, and watch Him change your life!!! More information on Immaculate Conception’s Adoration Chapel can be found here.
