Young Adult Ministry

DISCIPLESHIP

Looking to grow in your faith while connecting with other young adults? Discipleship strives to bring together all local Catholics, ages 21 to 35, to share in faith, service, and fun! We host weekly Bible studies and monthly worship, service, and social events.

Weekly Bible Study

Our weekly Bible study sessions are held every Wednesday at 7:30 PM in the Nelligan room, located in the Parish Office Building. We hope that you will take a break from your busy work week and join us for a time of discussion, prayer, and spiritual growth. We will be starting a new study series on November 29th, titled: “Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible”.

Please note: We will not be holding Bible study this Wednesday, November 15th. Instead, we encourage you to join us for the parish’s Ecumenical Prayer Service at 7 PM in the main church. The service is focused on thanksgiving and gratitude, and also offers the chance to participate in the Assistance Center of Towson Churches’ Thanksgiving Basket Project. More details can be found here:

We also will not be holding Bible study on November 22nd or December 27th, due to the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

Worship Night

Discipleship’s Worship Nights are held regularly on the second Saturday of every month. Our next Worship Night will be held on Saturday, December 9th, at 7 PM in the main church. We will have a guest speaker, adoration with worship music, benediction, and opportunities for confession, followed by a time to socialize.

Please check out the parish calendar or join The Immaculate Conception Discipleship Group on Facebook to stay updated on our Worship Nights. For more information, please e-mail youngadult@theimmaculate.org.

Praise Mass

Do you feel called to serve during Mass? We’d love for more young adults to partake in the Mass by offering Holy Communion, or serving as a lector, usher, or greeter. You can request to serve every 3rd Sunday of the month during the 5:30 PM Praise Mass with other young adults, and/or choose to be randomly assigned to various masses. If interested, please contact Fr. Francis at Francis.Ouma@archbalt.org to set up a time to be trained.

  • Sunday, November 19th - Praise Mass – Join us at 5:30 PM for Mass in the main church! We typically sit towards the front immediately to the right of the middle aisle (the ushers will be able to direct you to where we are sitting). If you have been trained at Immaculate Conception as a Eucharistic Minister or lector, we encourage you to sign-up for this Mass in advance. If not, please check with the ushers when you arrive to see if any other help is needed. At this time you do not need to be trained to serve as an usher or greeter.
  • Please note: Our Praise Mass for December will be combined with our annual Christmas party (see below) on Sunday, December 17th.

Social and Service Events

From attending community events such as Orioles games and Relay for Life to serving at places like Our Daily Bread and local pregnancy centers, Discipleship’s social and service events offer a variety of ways to get involved and serve others. To stay up to date on Discipleship’s latest events, please join The Immaculate Conception Discipleship Group on Facebook or refer to the calendar on the parish website. For more information, please contact Amy at youngadult@theimmaculate.org.

  • Saturday, November 18th - Thanksgiving Service Event – This Saturday, volunteer at Manor Care nursing home with Discipleship! • Sunday, December 17th – Join us for Discipleship’s annual Christmas Party! We will start the night by attending 5:30 PM Mass together in the main church. If you have been trained at Immaculate Conception, please sign-up for this Mass as a Eucharistic Minister, lector, usher or greeter, or see if help is needed when you arrive. Afterwards, we will head over to the parish hall for holiday food and drinks, live music, a photo booth, a White Elephant gift exchange, and much more! RSVP is due to Marissa at marissanjohansen@gmail.com by Monday, December 11th. If you would like to participate in the White Elephant gift exchange, please let her know when you RSVP.

  • Saturday, December 23rd - Christmas Service Event – The church is in need of volunteers to help decorate the church for Christmas. Volunteers will be meeting after morning Mass (around 9 AM) in the main church, where you will be divided into groups and assigned areas to decorate (sanctuary, choir loft, auditorium, outside of the church). Please contact Fr. Francis at Francis.Ouma@archbalt.org if you are able to help.
